Backwards Ensemble Theatre Company is looking for young, passionate artists interested in becoming core company members and administrators.
BETC was founded in 2005 on the belief that there is a better, more communal way to produce theatre. We believe in a true sense of ensemble, where artists of all kinds work together on every aspect of every project to produce work that is relevant not only to the audience but to every single artist involved. A theatre where actors are lighting designers, painters are stage managers, and stage hands are artistic directors.
We also are committed to focusing our efforts toward building a new community of theatre artists by connecting with existing groups and collaborating in exciting, innovative ways. And by fostering the growth of upcoming artists with the goal of enriching and diversifying the local theatre scene.
Does this sound like something you might like to be involved in?
We're a group of five Cornish College graduates on a mission to produce great theatre. In the past three years we have tried, failed, and triumphed and find ourselves now on the verge of realizing our voice and reaching a wider audience base. But, we've also found ourselves overworked and burned out at times as the amount of administrative and production work involved has become too much for us to handle. This is possibly where you come in...
We are actively seeking four individuals to help us take our company to the next level. These four people would have the following characteristics:
Here are some specific tasks you would be a part of. This is NOT a list of skill requirements, as long as you're willing to learn and actively seek to engage yourself, what more can we ask?
As you can see, there's lots to do, which is why the five of us are overwhelmed.
But, with an ensemble of nine, BETC could really take off. As of now, we are right
in the middle of our first full season of projects, which means we're looking for
people ready to jump right in and work/learn hands-
So, if you're still reading this and at all interested in becoming part of our ensemble, please send a resume and maybe some quick thoughts on why you are interested in the position to Zac@BackwardsCompany.org
There will be an interview and a trial period associated.
There is no monetary compensation for these positions.
