to our supporters:

Every season Backwards Ensemble Theatre Company works tirelessly to produce performances that are lasting, soulful, and relevant, and every season you have shown us that we could not have done it without the generous support of people like you.

In the past year we have celebrated the success of our break-out production The Rez as I Saw it which documented the wretched emotional and physical conditions suffered by a white family living on the Suquamish Indian Reservation. It was a story of revenge and redemption, of violence and addiction, but most of all a story about the universal struggle to overcome extreme adversity at every opportunity.

Continuing this year with another production that challenges the modern zeitgeist, BETC will present “PIECES” a pairing of two one-act plays: Salome by Chuck Mee and The Author's Voice by Richard Greenberg. Mee's female solo piece about a modern day biblical Salome jars the senses with quick-paced, sometimes cringe-worthy dialogue and frequent dance breaks to contemporary music while Greenberg weaves a delicate story of lust and lies in his demented comedy about the ugly voice found deep within us all. Ultimately, the two  playwrights arrive at the same question: What makes me, ME?

We're writing to let you know how excited we are to produce these two thought provoking plays, and are asking that you help us make our dreams a reality by contributing $25 to our budget for this production. In order to secure our performance space we need $2,500 before December 1st. At the present, we have $1,250 which puts us at the half-way point towards our goal. If just forty people gave $25 our goal would be met!

During hard economic times, funding for the arts is less available than ever. Backwards Company perseveres thanks largely to your continued generous donations. Please make your donation today so we can get to work on producing these exciting projects tomorrow!
